Sam Reeves
Deputy General Manager

I’ve worked here since October 2017 where I joined as a part time administrator. In January 2023 I became full time administrator and since then I have been promoted to Deputy General Manager. I enjoy my role as no two days are the same and I get immense job satisfaction knowing I’m helping people at a time of need.

I joined Garden of England in February 2024 after being made redundant from my previous role. I’m really enjoying the variety of the different jobs the role has to offer, including helping people when they are going through a difficult time and need our support.

Mark Powell

Mark Powell
Crematory Technician and Chapel Attendant

I used to work as an undertaker for a local funeral director, R. High & Sons. I worked up to be a bearer which followed on to be a conductor and I was there in total for 22 years. I was approached by The Garden of England Crematorium in 2012 and joined as a General Assistant. I then passed my cremator technician qualification after two years. I really enjoy being in the chapel working with many colleagues from my days as a funeral director.

My first ever job was as a grave digger, followed by three years as a gardener. I then spent 14 years in the pottery industry working on the kilns. I joined the Garden of England Crematorium in 2003 as a Crematory Technician and Chapel Attendant. I very much enjoy being part of the team serving the local community.

Since leaving school I worked within the building trade but joined the Garden of England Crematorium team in July 2023. I really enjoy working outdoors and the variation of jobs each day within the beautiful gardens.

I’ve always been a gardener and studied City & Guilds at Hadlow Horticultural College. I then worked for 10 years at Queen Mary University London as a groundsman and gardener. I’ve been with the Garden of England Crematorium since July 2024 and I am really enjoying this great working environment, in very lovely surroundings.
